How Islamic inheritance (Faraid) works
Faraid is the system of fixed inheritance shares derived from the Qur'an and the Sunnah. Certain heirs receive prescribed portions — for example, a wife receives one-eighth when there are children and one-quarter when there are none; a husband receives one-quarter with children and one-half without. Parents and children take defined shares too, and sons and daughters generally share the residue in a two-to-one ratio.
What this calculator does and does not cover
To keep the result reliable, this tool covers only the common core heirs — spouse, sons, daughters, father, and mother. Where other relatives (such as siblings or grandparents) might be entitled to part of the estate, it tells you a portion is unallocated rather than guessing. Those situations, and differences between schools of thought, should be confirmed with a qualified scholar.

What does this calculator cover?
It covers the common core heirs — spouse, sons, daughters, father and mother — under standard Sunni Faraid rules. It does not account for siblings, grandparents, multiple wives, or other situations that can change the distribution, which it flags rather than guesses.
Are the shares before or after debts and bequests?
The fixed Faraid shares apply to what remains after funeral expenses, debts, and any valid bequest (generally up to one-third to non-heirs or charity) are dealt with first.
Does a calculation make a valid will?
